National Championship Road Race 2011

On Memorial Day Spencer and I, with our friends Brandon and Laura, went to Greenville, South Carolina to watch the 2011 National Championship Road Race. Spencer is what I would call a cycling finatic and I also enjoy the sport. Brandon and Laura were good enough to listen to us (mostly Spencer) talk non-stop about the cycling sport.

We drove down to South Carolina on Sunday afternoon. It took about 5 and a half hours but with these wonderful folks the time flew by.

On race day we planted ourselves close to the top of Paris Mountain. Also close to what we think was George Hincapie's house. The race was a circuit race so we saw the riders go by four times. Waiting was intense but we had tons of fun!

Before the race started we saw this guy drive by and just had to take a picture.

This is the pack for the first round. Mostly the guys stayed together. There were some stragglers.

And then we saw good old GEORGE HINCAPIE!! I love him! He is such a cool guy! Not to mention one of the best road racers of all time... Go George!

Towards the end of the race we saw Taylor Phinney who is almost 21 years old. He will be an amazing pro for sure.

After the cyclists passed us for the forth time we drove to downtown Greenville to see the end of the race. It was very exciting. We were near the finish line where George Hincapie and Matthew Busche sprinted it out for the gold.

Sadly my man George did not win.... when they wizzed past us we thought for sure he had it in the bag but he lost by literally a rim width. When they crossed the line they had to wait for the photo to determine who was the champion.

It was sad but it was ok. Good for Matthew Busche. It was his first National Championship win.

The National Championship Time Trial was the day before so we did not see it but I have to give a shout out to Dave Zabriskie. He is awesome and this is his 6th National Time Trial Championship. He is pretty freakin amazing. We are sad he moved away from our home state but we still love you! Go DZ!

New York New York 2011

Let me just start out this post by saying I have the best boss EVER! Towards the end of May our little dental office went to a dental convention in New York City. As you can tell from the photos below there was not a lot of dental conventioning going on. I also was a bum and did not start taking pictures until we were about a day in. So here we go.....

We found an awesome Thai restaurant! It is called Breeze Thai. I'm here with Sarah our hygienist and Bethany a fellow dental assistant. It hit the spot for all of us and it was Sarah's first time with Thai so that made it even better! Not to mention our Strawberry Daiquiris (virgin of course :)) Which I LOVE!

Doesn't it just look delicious?

After dinner we walked the 20 or so blocks to The Empire State Building. We got there at Sunset. It was so beautiful!

Here is the view of the buildings below.

The weekend we were there was a busy one. There were pretty much this many people at all times on Time Square.

We had to visit Serendipity! It is a cute little restaurant but it is so busy. We went there at 10:00pm and they told us we would have an hour wait! So we decided to go the next morning and stand in line for a half an hour to be seated. It was definitely worth it!

I got their famous Frozen Hot Chocolate.
It was SO good!

That night Sarah and I went to the Broadway musical Wicked! It was fantastic! I had forgotten how amazing Broadway actors are. They did such a good job and we had a great time!

On our last night Bethany and I had some shopping energy at midnight so we went out on the town! There were so many people out and about it was crazy! People pushing around their wide awake little toddlers! Only in New York I guess.

Well our trip was amazing. If I took pictures of every place we went shopping there would have been A LOT more but I will just leave that up to the imagination. ;)

Lewisburg Chocolate Festival 2011

WE LOVE LEWISBURG!!! Every year they have a "Chocolate Festival" where they close down the main street and almost every store gives out different chocolate samples for tickets that you buy. It's all for a fundraiser.

For the past couple of years they have been holding a 10K Run before the main event begins. This was my first 10K run and Spencer's first organized run EVER! It was really fun....I think :)

The music is so cool at these events. This band was really good.

These cute girls are the ones that we hung out with all day. Left to right: Laura Grube, Joy Boggess, Yours truly, Shay Hyde and Keri Troyer. We all enjoyed WAY too much chocolate.

Amazing......

Shay and I wanted to remember how much we loved the chocolate. Really though by the time we took this picture I think we were about to puke from all of the chocolate we ate.

All of you chocolate lovers feel free to come visit next year! It's a grand ole' time!

Spring Break 2011

Spring break this year was a lot of fun! Spencer rode his bike while I worked for the first half of the week then Mom and Dad Tingey joined us for the second half. We did so many things in just three days! First we went to The Lost World Caverns...Home of The Bat Boy!!!! The formations were so amazing. I had never seen anything like it.

We definitely ate well this week. We made a huge plate of one of my favorites, Caprese! Mmmmmm so good!

We had to do some working out so we didn't become fat! I'm not kidding. We ate a lot! The Greenbrier River Trail is my favorite place to run. It is so beautiful and peaceful.

We got some action shots...

Our cute boys did some fly fishing up in Anthony, West Virginia. They found a couple of good spots but no bites today.

Look how precious they are!

If I was fishing here I would have been snagged in a tree in two seconds. They are pretty awesome.

We went to Stella's Tea House. EXCELLENT FOOD! They bring you your hot chocolate in your own individual tea pot. I love it!

After our delicious meal we drove up Hwy 219 to go to Green Bank, West Virginia. On our way we found this cool old bridge. I love the old bridges in WV!

One of our stops before Green Bank was Snowshoe Ski Resort. It is one of the best Ski resorts on the East Coast. It has just snowed and the trees looked really cool.

So the reason we went on this long drive to Green Bank, WV was to visit the worlds largest radio telescope!

They would not allow us to get pictures really close to the telescope because digital cameras mess with the radio waves when they are too close.

Those were all the adventures we went on with Mom and Dad Tingey. We always have fun when they come to visit!
