Nick and Lindsay came to visit us in good ole WV!
We had a lot of fun! We ate, shopped, ate, played
frisbee golf, ate and oh ya, played golf at the oldest
golf course in America!
Oakhurst Links is the oldest golf course in America
and it was made right near us in White Sulphur Springs, WV.
Each player is only allowed to play with hickory shaft clubs,
which the club provides. Also you can only play with
gutta percha balls.
Instead of using tees like we use today you make your own tee
out of sand and water.
The rough is literally ROUGH! They give you two balls to play with
and it is SUPER easy to lose them.
The hickory shaft clubs are great! We each received a spoon (driver),
mashie (long iron), niblick (wedge), and a putter. My favorite
was the niblick.
The course is tucked away in the West Virginia hills so it is beautiful!
We always seem to find crazy spiders everywhere we go...
We each were given a towel to wipe our hands
after we made our sand tees.
Ha ha...towel bums...
At the end of every round they give you fresh lemonade and cookies,
just like the good old days. They also give you a tour of the little museum there.
It is way awesome.
We had a great time!
